New Hampshire: Joseph Doiron has been selected as the new state Director of Workforce Development for New Hampshire, where he will oversee the Office of Workforce Opportunity.
Georgia: The Georgia Northwestern Technical College held a special graduation ceremony at Floyd County Prison to present 12 graduates with certificates in Shield Metal Arc and Flux Core Welding. This program was funded through a collaboration with the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission Workforce Investment Board.
Illinois: Southern Illinois University will receive an additional $1.2 million in grant funds to help meet the job training demand for aviation jobs at the Southern Illinois Airport.
North Carolina: James Sprunt Community College has received a $109,423 grant from the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund to be used towards short-term training.
Texas: Workforce Solutions East Texas has received grant funds under the National Dislocated Worker Grant to hire an additional 40 temporary workers to better assist job-seekers.
